Runway show performance art

http://www.theguardian.com/fashion/video/2014/sep/30/chanels-karl-lagerfeld-grand-palais-feminist-protest-video

"For Chanel's closing catwalk show at Paris fashion week, Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais in to a Paris boulevard. The show itself had a protest theme, complete with banners and megaphones, led by model Cara Delevingne"

Art meets politics. Art has the power. I think this is quite interesting as these people are models, in their usual context they do not have a voice. Here they are protesting for feminism. This is quite like a lot of art - art that displays a message - art that is there to say something. Generally fashion is a less vocal art form so I think this is quite interesting how it has developed along with changing society.

This reminds me of the Avant Garde and the gallery as a gesture. I said about how art has lost the power to shock, especially in a gallery. However this form of art is sort of new... it has more of a shock factor than say Duchamp's Fountain, as this is out of context.
